Well, what we have here is a new satire on which is being lauded by the Western World as not-so-offensive. I really think that the decision to decide on the offensive content should lie with someone who is part of the religion and not someone who is outside it. The movie “The Love Guru,†is a comedy wherein Pitka is the main character (Mike Myers rebirth after Austin Powers) who is an American left outside an ashram in India as a child and subsequently raised by gurus. He goes back to the U.S. to seek the ultimate glory and of course the goodies in the world of self-help and spirituality. His unorthodox methods are put to the test when he has to settle a rift between Toronto Maple Leafs star hockey player Darren Roanoke (played by Romany Malco) and his estranged wife. After the split, Roanoke’s wife starts dating L.A. Kings star Jacques Grande (Justin Timberlake) out of revenge, sending her husband into a major professional problem. Here enters the teams’ owner Jane Bullard (Jessica Alba)
and Coach Cherkov (Verne Troyer) who cannot digest this position. Pitka must return the couple to marital nirvana and get Roanoke back on his game so the team can break the 40-year-old “Bullard Curse†and win the Stanley Cup.
This is a small gist of the complete story but the small playing around with Hindu sensibilities may not augur well with the now expectedly Hindus led government-in-waiting of the Bhartiya Janta Party and its hardcore leaders. So, Hollywood needs to catch the mood of the billion population of a nation.

A statement by the ISCKON Min of Communication has also commented –“Satire is a genre that typically replaces reality with contradictions and exaggerations. If however, some mistake satire for truth, then rather than be angered, we could take the opportunity to clarify misrepresentations and educate others about our authentic traditions. If approached in a constructive and proactive way, the film may even lead to increased tolerance, dialogue, and understanding between Hindus and non-Hindusâ€
