Anil Kapoor is young at heart, is a fact that is known all over. The yesteryear star is in the spotlight with his appearance in the movie Slumdog Millionaire and is getting to meet a lot of superstars in the international arena. The movie Slumdog Millionaire is winning awards and that is what is taking Anil also around. He might be one of the few stars in Bollywood who has been on a box-office winning spree for 25 years but he had never been in the international spotlight. So it is not a surprise if, at times, he is more visible as the face of the film than lead stars Dev or Freida – or even director Danny Boyle!
He has been paired opposite Bollywood’s most gorgeous leading ladies in his hey days and the actor was smitten by the beautiful Angelina Jolie at the 66th Golden Globe Awards held at Beverly Hills, California. He wanted to be introduced to the Hollywood diva. Being part of Slumdog Millionaire, Anil was with the cast and crew of the film at the function where Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were also present. The two were seated close to the film’s crew. Anil was seated close to Angelina and could not conceal his excitement. Anil also knew that Irfan Khan had worked with Angelina in ‘A Mighty Heart’ and they knew each other well. He elbowed Irfan for an introduction and kept shaking hands with her. Angelina congratulated him, after he received the Outstanding Cast For A Motion Picture Award at the 15th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards in LA.
I’m sure that he must be thanking his lucky stars that Shah Rukh Khan refused the role of the KBC host that eventually went to him. Now he is part of a film that has won 47 awards and 10 Oscar nominations! He has also been selected to be host for CNN’s soon-to-begin show My City My Life, based on Mumbai. In ‘My City_My Life’, Kapoor shows us “his” Mumbai, from Asia’s largest slum to the hang-outs of Bollywood’s elite. Along the way Kapoor relays his own ‘rags-to-riches’ story and how he’s reaching his dream of being an international movie star.
