Bollywood actors at HDIL couture week

Bollywood actors Zayed Khan and Shruti Hassan dazzled the ramp in the exquisite collection of designer Manav Gangwani titled ”A Tempestuous Affaire” at the HDIL couture week. Gangwani’s outfits had silhouettes ranging from well-draped traditional Anarkali suits and innovative churidar and kurtas. Female models sashayed the ramp in unusual traditional drapes paired with statement blouses. The designer used fabrics like velvets, satins, delicate nets, georgettes and antique laces, along with glistening lame and brocades. The colour palette had black, gold and emerald tones.
“The collection is called ”A Tempestuous Affaire” and is inspired from a piece of emerald. The gold shows how the cutting of emerald is done. It comes and glows into a beautiful emeralds so that is how it is,” said Gangwani. Zayed Khan, who is featuring in the big-budget Bollywood film ‘Blue’, was the showstopper of Gangwani’s show, and said that being part of couture week was good as the best of the best pieces are showcased. “I feel this is a nice structured fusion look between a sherwani and a sort of a suit in some sort of manner. I like the whole churidar and the pants. Manav has really outdone himself and we always happy to be here for him,” said Khan. The HDIL Indian Couture week, initiated by the Fashion Design Council of India, concluded on Friday.
With top notch Bollywood celebrities sashaying down the ramp or making for a dazzling audience, the second edition of the HDIL India Couture Week (HDIL-ICW) was high on glamour and less on couture. Despite the inaugural show by designer duo Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla – where the Bachchan family was expected to walk the ramp – being cancelled, the HDIL-ICW week that began Oct 11 and concluded Friday was still a star studded affair. All the Khans of Bollywood – Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Arbaaz Khan, Sohail Khan, Zaayed Khan and Imran Khan – sashayed down the ramp. Giving them company were other Bollywood newsmakers Ajay Devgan, Sanjay Dutt, Govinda, Akshay Kumar, Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Kareena Kapoor, Sridevi, Gauri Khan and Shruti Hasan. 
Sitting in front rows and cheering for their friends were Bollywood stars Preity Zinta, Kajol, Dia Mirza, Amisha Patel, Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone, Farhan Akhtar, Malaika Arora Khan, Amrita Arora, Dino Morea, Farah Khan, Uday Chopra, Anupam Kher, Rishi and Neetu Kapoor among others. The Bollywood presence definitely took attention away from the designers and their clothes. This was clearly indicated when a journalist pointed out at one particular show that made an exception: “There are no celebrities walking the ramp or sitting in the front row at all. Huge disappointment!” Fashion critic Sathya Saran said: “When stars become the highlight of the show, designs take a backstage and the focus gets shifted to celebrities and not on clothes. We should get rid of this star struck frenzy, otherwise it’s the designers’ loss.
