For a broken hearted woman like me, this movie helps me to heal my pain. This woman Coco Channel has really guided me to stay strong and determined in all that I want to achieve in life. It is started with Coco who wanted to show the world that after two decades of her success in fashion business, she still has power and big influence to the world yet the result was very dissapointing. She failed to impress the people in fashion industry and it lead to a frustation of her business partner Marc who has been struggling with her for years.
Coco was an orphan whose mother dies when she was very young and the father leaves her for another woman. Since then, she decides that she wants to be successful yet very sceptical to men. After studying in women’s school with her sister, she left and works with a very mean tailor who does not like to see her developed and able to understand what their costumers really want in fashion.
She was a very dilligent employee and she was not afraid to speak up about whether or not a dress looked beautiful in her costumer. She then met a very handsome officer who was famous for being a womanizer that has changed her life. At the beginning he did not really care about her, but in a party where she was asked to sing and brave enough to perform, the officer started to fall in love with her. She played hard to get but eventually fell for his persistency to steal her heart.
She then decided to leave her job and moved in with him but found out that he never had intention to marry her. He was once visited by his English friend Boy who was surpisingly the love of her life. Coco experienced a lot of rejection from a lot of people during her relationship. She that time really wanted people to look up to her. She created the first hat and got a compliment from a rich woman and she was the pioneer of wearing pants in which that time pants were merely for men.
Boy was really in love with her and found out that Coco has such a character and talent which was too bad to neglect. He left without saying good bye and able to meet her again in Paris when she was almost kicked out by her landlord. He helped her developing her talent and he made her a shop for her hat. She again got a lot of sinycal comment from his bussiness friends who came for the grand opening of her shop and made her even more determined to be stronger and independent.
She hated the fact that women dressed too much and wanted to make a new trends of having simple clothing. She started to wear pants and used jersey material for her clothing line which finally got a fantastic feedback from her costumers.
But then her success in her career did not get along with her romance. During the World War II, Boy decided to defend England and Coco was very sad. She kept her shop open and created a lot more simple dresses. During the war, Boy met his father’s godfather, Diana and fell in love with her. Coco knew it from the newspaper and very sad about what has happened but she kept moving and gain more success.
She then started a bigger move by renting a six floors building for her production and started her famous Channel number 5 fragrance. She built up her reputation and one day Boy called her and stated his regret to leave her and wanted to come back again to her. Coco was full of joy and waited for him, but then he got accident and died. That was the time when she invented LBD Little Black Dress. Her sad experience inspired her to create something which will always be memorized. LBD untill now is a “must have” for women.
Frankly speaking this movie is truly inspiring. Coco insists that women must dress in line with heir characters and not to please men. She never gives up and show the spirit of independency that a woman should have. She has pride and faith to herself that she can do well with whatever she believes. She was able to create wardrobes not only for the rich people but also for the poors. She wants women to have the freedom as well as men and she has proven that without a man she still survives.
She is a woman with pride and knew very well what women want. Her idealism helped her to create classic and timeless wardrobes for women is very admirable. She never gives up and managed her pain into great worldwide achievements and she gains huge success. She is strong by the failure she has got not by her success. And eventhough her love life was not that beautiful, I put my respect to her faithfulness and devoution to her lover and best friends. She also was fearless to say certain thing that other women were very afraid to say. She is very influential.
This movie is a masterpiece to open our eyes to a greater perspective in life. She enlights my soul, she heals my sorrow and she showed me what a woman should be. She is truly an eye opener.
