The story goes that way back in 2001, a year after India had two beauty pageant winners in Lara Dutta at the Miss Universe and Priyanka Chopra at Miss World, Golf Ace Tiger Woods was dating one of them. The rumour was that our Lara Dutta, who was reportedly dating New York Yankees baseballer Derek Jeter, had also caught the eye of the greatest golfer in the world. For weeks, women who claim themselves to be Tiger Woods’ mistresses – allegedly have been coming forward, and now a piece of gossip from 2001 has emerged again. At one time, there was a rumor that Woods had dated Lara Dutta, a Bollywood actress.
A US newspaper, in a story on Tiger, had the champion golfer denying he was dating “Miss Universe Lara Dutta of India — or trying to steal her from New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter.†The Woods Foundation people, in fact, dismissed the story as being “Nothing more than gossip, probably put out by Dutta’s camp.†And Lara came back to India and fame in Bollywood. According to the latest buzz, former Miss Universe and current Bollywood actress Lara Dutta was also ‘dating’ Tiger Woods for a brief period of time!
The tainted champion golfer was reportedly getting jiggy with Lara back in 2001 when she had recently won the beauty pageant along with Priyanka Chopra. Lara had won the Miss Universe contest and Priyanka had won the Miss World title, and it was an open secret that Woods was ‘going out’ with one of the two ladies. During that time Lara Dutta was with New York Yankees baseballer Derek Jeter, and Priyanka Chopra was also dating someone. Tiger Woods was married, of course. But there were a few instances when Lara and Woods were spotted together at restaurants and clubs.
As quoted by a US daily, Woods had flatly denied that he was “dating Miss Universe Lara Dutta of India — or trying to steal her from New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter.”
