Film review ‘What’s Your Rashi?’ (Zodiac sign)

Acclaimed director Ashutosh Gowariker has given us three great dramatic films with Lagaan, Swades, Jodhaa Akbar but now he is moving on to another genre with his next production. Titled What’s Your Rashi? the film will star Priyanka Chopra and  Harman Baweja and will be a full-on light romantic comedy. Gowariker was looking for something that was less intense and less research needed and he found it in a book that is the basis for the script of film.
In an interview  he revealed just a bit about the project and here are some highlights from that interview.
In ‘What’s Your Rashi?’ I don’t have to go into historical details. But a good comedy is a challenge of its own. The process of arriving at the humour is extremely difficult.
Priyanka Chopra’s bagged herself a new and ‘interesting’ role in Ashutosh Gowarikar’s What’s Your Rashi? under the pretext that it’s a “very different film†and no actress has ever done a role like this before.  Priyanka loves being bold with her choice in scripts doesn’t she?. Priyanka and Ashutosh is screaming in their interview that Priyanka was down with 104 fever during the shoots but continued to shoot for the film. Harman Baweja must have also done some efforts. I hope he also gets some publicity for the film.
The film’s poster is very average and boring and has no appeal. The poster is nothing but a sunsign chart with nothing related to film apart from the name of the cast and producers . It looks more like a colourful Dart Board . I expected a little more creativity on Ashutosh’s part who has made films like Lagaan , Swades and Jodhaa Akbar. The film stars the disastrous couple of 2008 , Priyanka-Harman, in reel life as well as real life, and I just hope their Rashi’s are in perfect positions while the film releases . The poster does lack creativity but I hope the film has some creativity. I hope that at least the trailer is good . Jodha Akbar’s poster created so much excitement and it had a classy appeal. It seems this film is  a left over film which has to just be released. This seems is like a forced work for the cast crew. I can see who cares? kind of attitude by the entire crew and cast of the film as they are all over the channels. Poor Baweja he is the most neglected member and Priyanka is making him feel nothing less then a dirt in the interviews. Now in this scenario what can be expected from the film itself.

Iam a capricorn woman from Mumbai..Though Iam a great of of Ashutosh Govarikar’s movies,the promos which shows Priyanka Chopra in different forms in reference our 12 raashi’s are little upsetting for capri like me,because I dont beleive in the fact that Capricorn women should be projected in the manner which Ashutosh has projected;Though I haven’t read the novel on which this movie is based,neither we are not aware of the contents of the movie,it really matters for people like us and whole society gets influenced by the media.. I am an educated capri woman beleiving in morals yet chilled out.I wonder why out of the 12 rashi’s,Ashutosh chose to project Capricorn woman in such an uneducated or an illiterate form,where other raashi’s are projected well.
It realy upset me.

it is indeed a worst movie that anybody can expect from the one who has given epics like Jodha Akbar, Lagaan and swadesh.
I havent read the novel, but in movie signs like libra, leo , taurus, capricon, piesces…are portrayed very poorly. very poor movie and only thing bearable is priyanka chpora’s acting!! rest is a total crap!!

Well i a have not seen this movie, but after looking at the comments i think i will not watch this movie. Its pity he (Gowrikar) couldn’t do it this time.
im capricorn n seriously ashutosh has lost it… capricorns are educated highly respected for their knowledge in the society n very hard working ppl… that rashi is portrayed wrong. Most of the doctors im friends w/ r capricorns n they hav a high status in the society. horrible movie n vry uneducated director

When I went to watch that movie ,I expected a movie that will cover all signs with a fair n equal justice to all. But what I got was some idiotic story with 12 songs (OMG!!) and dumb acting of Harman Baweja. My 250 Rs and precisous 3.5 hrs got wasted. I was drained in the end becoz of all bullshit in that movie!
If you like the story…I wont comment on your movie choice (
seems that someting is missing in you…errr brains???) but that doesnt mean that you should start keeping grudges against those who hated the movie. Just express ur views abt movie and get lost!
Ya even I agree. The movie is chalu, a total nonsense. Only dumb ones can enjoy it.
My rashi is Libra and Librans are famous for their charming and peacemaker attitude. And when I watched that movie , Libra girl was shown as the one with very calculative and judgemental mind. It is ablsolutely false.
Giving rational decision after considering pros and cons is the adored trait of Librans thats why they work as judges or in Law firms. But I dont know what Ashutoh Gowarikar thought???

this movie is poorly made. Being a Libran that is all i can say. Libra is one of the most desired of all Zodiac, as they considered the most just and modest. They will give up anything to see peace and harmony around them. They make great diplomats and leaders due to their potentiality of solving things amicable. They are leaders not dominating arrogants. I wish the directors did a bit of homework, maybe he could have taken Mahatma Gandhi, Susan Sarandon, Alfred Nobel or Sigourney Weaver into consideration when he made this movie. They are Librans and please tell me in what way were they arrogant, bossy and demanding?
after reading some positive reviews , I thought lets give a chance to this movie. So I went out for this movie…but this movie is a real shit.
Ashu seems to have a soft corner for Aquarius , virgo and gemini rashis..he has not paid attention to any other rashis at all!
I am a tauren..and in the movie , Vishakha ( name of tauren girl) is shown as a mad lady. She doesnt get a proper chance at all to prove her. Taurean has so many wonderful traits ,none of them are covered in this movie.
And I dont underastnd the motive of keeping 12 songs in the movie..why?? He could have elaborated more on rashis..but no! I seriously hated the movie.
Its a dumb movie which can be liked by only dumb people!
