‘Idol’ gives Ellen’s talk show record ratings

Fox’s “American Idol” ratings are holding steady with last year, but Ellen DeGeneres’ talk show is going through the roof. During her first week on “Idol,” Ellen’s syndicated “Ellen DeGeneres Show” show scored its highest weekly average rating ever.”Ellen” delivered a 2.9 household rating, her best in seven years on the air. She was also up 12% week-to-week and 26% year-to-year. Season-to-date, “Ellen” has a 2.4. By comparison, industry titan Oprah Winfrey dominates with a 5.1, followed by the evil Dr. Phil (2.9) and the good Dr. Oz (2.8) tied with “Regis and Kelly” (2.8). “Ellen” was fifth.
