REVIEW 2: Jodhaa Akbar is a fairy tale

To watch Jodhaa Akbar for historical accuracy is pointless. To watch it for any brilliant display of camera work or special effects is futile. Because chances are you may be hugely disappointed. Especially if you have seen other Hollywood historical or epics on the screen. Rather, watch it for a simple tale of love. Jodhaa Akbar belongs to Hrithik. Take for example the scene in which he is practicing swordplay, his taut muscles rippling, eyes afire. Watching from behind a sheer curtain is Jodhaa, who had till then resisted his advances. The sheer magnetism of the man is enough to add colour to the Rajput princess blanched cheeks. You understand why she lets out a gasp.
However a sneak peek into the songs of Jodhaa Akbar at its launch recently had a completely opposite effect. For a change, the music seemed so good that the picturisation somehow couldn’t keep up.

However, one misses the kind of punch as expected from the first romantic song of the album and the final outcome turns out to be little lackluster with not much in the song pulling a listener for a repeat hearing. Towards the album’s end, a ‘Flute Instrumental‘ version of the song is heard as well, which works better as a core background piece which could be enjoyed with lights switched off. Definitely, a perfect film to watch with family and friends.

THE STORY LINE…..

Jodhaa Akbar is a 16th century love story between a great Mughal Emperor,Akbar and a Rajput Princess, Jodhaa. Akbar after securing the Hindu kush ,he furthered his realm by conquest until his empire extended from Afghanistan to Bay of Bengal, from Himlayas to Godavari river. Akbar could never dream when he married Jodhaa. The daughter of Bharmal of Amer, he would in turn be embarking upon a new journey-the journey of true love. After the arrival of Jodhaa in Akbar’s life Akbar’s biggest challenge did not merely lie in winning battles, but winning the heart of his pretty wife Jodhaa.
