Kate Winslet as an Austrian kidnap victim

Oscar Winning actress Kate Winslet is currently in talks to star in the story of an Austrian kidnap victim in an upcoming movie, according to Contact Music. Winslet, 34, will star in the true story about 22-year-old Natascha Kampusch who was taken as a child and held captive in a cellar for eight years. Her kidnapper, Wolfgang Priklopil, grabbed her while she was walking home from school; she was just 10 years old. Priklopil committed suicide after her 2006 escape. Actor Christoph Waltz is in talks to take on the role of Priklopil.Director Bernd Eichinger revealed the Titanic actress, 34, is the hot favourite to star as Kampusch even though she is twelve years older than the 22-year-old.

Kampusch was snatched by Wolfgang Priklopil on her way home from school when she was 10. She escaped eight years later and her captor committed suicide by throwing himself under a train.Natascha made headlines after escaping her abductor Wolfgang Priklopil in 2006 having been held in his cellar for eight years. Priklopil had abducted her as she made her way to school and after her escaope, he commited suicide by throwing himself under a train.
