So it seems that there is another lady who has come into the fray to the highest offices in United States. Earlier it was Hillary who has already spent eight years in the White House, albiet as the first lady and tried her best for the Democratic nomination before conceding graciously to Obama and now it’s Sarah Palin, who is into the race as the Vice Presidential nominee. Whatever John Mccain had in mind in finally choosing the gracious and former cover girl Sarah Palin is anyone’s guess but it evoke the right amount of interest once again in the Presidential election. The interest had died down after the eviction of Hillary but has got renewed once again. I think it’s got to do with woman power more than the juicy stories attached or the very attractive photographs that are being flashed of Palin. Palin, a mother of an infant Trig (born 2008), apart from her four other kids, Track (born 1989) and daughters Bristol (born 1990), Willow (born 1995), and Piper (born 2001) is soon to be a grand mom too. She announced on September 1, 2008, that her underage daughter Bristol was five months pregnant and intended to keep the baby and marry the father of her child, 17-year-old Levi Johnston. Gov Palin had herself eloped in her younger days with her high-school boyfriend, Todd whom she finally settled down with when she was 24 years of age. In spite of these issues which need to be addressed in a different light and projected to the nation as necessary action needs to be shown to be taken about them. The governor has many achievements too in the right sense of the word with political angels attached since she was the youngest governor of the state too. Her roles in allround development of the state are also not unknown.
Thinking of Hillary, the world knows how everyone enjoyed making spoofs of the entire family while the infamous Monica Lewinsky case ran in full steam in which Bill Clinton was nearly impeached out of office. But in spite of all these negatives there must be positivity there since it’s not easy to denounce these so called mistakes of one’s life and still accept them to the highest positions in a country as well educated and advanced as the United States. She has come out of so many tough situations in her life that I’m sure a lot of other women would find it impossible to cope up with. She has maintained her dignified poise and gracious charm to woo the voters of America. She is definitely a winner hands down even if she has withdrawn from the race to the White House.
And to think that we in India had problems selecting our politicians from an array of murderers, fodder scamists, foreigners and so on and so forth. I think we are not much behind the United States in any way except in population statistics where we are well ahead. Can we also forget our politicians in this way and accept them as our leaders?
