Popstar Leona Lewis who is an avid animal rights activist, has spent USD 262,500 to commission environment friendly stage outfits for her upcoming tour. The British singer spent thousands of dollars on ethical clothing by designer Antonio Berardi, who has previously dressed Kylie Minogue and Madonna, reported Sun online. All of the items she will wear throughout the 16-date tour will meet specific animal welfare standards. ”
Leona has been very forceful with Antonio. She has insisted the outfits are as ethically sound as they can possibly be. She’s paid for all the clothes out of her own pocket, so she has been quite hands-on in terms of design,” said a source close to the singer. The 25-year-old who shot to fame from poverty after winning the talent hunt ‘X Factor’ in 2008, will begin her international tour from Sheffield, England on Friday, May 28. ”I’m going to give everything every night. I have put so much love and care into making this over the last six months. I’m going to put on an incredible show,” Lewis said.
