It’s true that some celebrities take a healthy lifestyle to an extreme and end up anorexic or way too thin. Or, in many cases, the lifestyle of celebrities is very unhealthy, with lots of drugs, smoking, unhealthy eating habits and alcohol binges. However, there’s a lot we can learn from celebs whose jobs are ones in which a healthy lifestyle is critical to stay looking great in front of the camera, and it’s this healthy lifestyle they choose to follow. Given the fact that many diseases, such as diabetes, are preventable if we simply choose to change our lifestyle habits, we all should make a choice to live a healthy lifestyle.
Some pointers to take you down the right path in leading a healthy lifestyle
Reduce Stress. Studies have proven that stress can increase the risk of serious health conditions, such as heart disease, and increase headaches and muscle aches and pains throughout the body. In addition, stress can increase the production of cortisol in the body, which can cause weight gain, suppress the immune system and decrease muscle tissue. Eliminating harsh substances such as cigarette smoke and alchohol can also help reduce stress on the body, in addition to reducing the risk of cancer and liver disease, respectively.
Exercise. It’s no secret that consistent exercise, even as little as walking three times a week for 30 minutes a day, helps reduce stress effects on the body, reduce weight gain and reduce your risk of various diseases.
Eat Healthy. The items you do or don’t put into your body can make a huge difference in your health. Reducing the intake of fried foods, such as French fries, that introduce unhealthy saturated fats (and altered fats, at that) into your body, is a good start. In addition, adding plenty of steamed or frozen veggies and whole fruits into your diet is huge in adding antioxidants and nutrients into your body. Also, lean protein is important as protein increases your metabolism.
Celebrities, like Nicole Richie with the recent birth of her daughter, and Oprah Winfrey, promote healthy lifestyles. And though lifestyle changes can be challenging, your quality of life and the way our health can impact the lives of our family and friends should be enough for us to make the smart choice to lead a healthy lifestyle!
