New Delhi, May 6 (PTI )’Queen of Pop’ Madonna is known for her steely resolve to get what she wants, and the singer plans to launch a public campaign if the Malawian court turns down her plea to adopt three-year-old Mercy James.The 50-year-old hitmaker is all set to launch a campaign which will profess the rights of single mothers to adopt children from foreign countries, reported Sun online.”If she fails on the grounds of her divorce she will be absolutely livid. She is already talking about starting a campaign for single mums to be allowed to adopt the world over,” a source close to the singer told the newspaper.
Madonna’s adoption bid was turned down by Malawi authorities last month on the grounds that prospective parents have to reside in the country for 18 to 24 months before the adoption takes place.Moreover, her status as a divorcee mother and her current relationship with Brazilian model, Jesus, 28 years her junior has caused public sentiment against her in the conservative African nation.Madonna, who had already adopted a Malawian boy named David in 2006, has appealed against the ruling by the officials.
