padma19437214Miranda Kerr has been named most desirable Australian woman of 2010 by online men’s mag AskMen.com. Entourage star Emmanuelle Chriqui took out the top spot, but Miranda was the most popular Aussie, coming in at No.10. AskMen.com received around 6 million votes in the poll about who would best represent the qualities of their ideal girlfriend or wife. Supermodels Padma Lakshmi and Lakshmi Menon have surprisingly beaten Indian tinsel town divas in the announced Top 99 Most Desirable Women poll. The gorgeous 99 this year features only four Indians. Padma and Menon apart, it features Slumdog Millionaire star Freida Pinto and Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. While Padma grabbed the 15th spot, Menon stood at 45. Freida was at the 50th position while Ash, who was at the 60th spot last year, is the 63rd most desirable woman this year. The men’s portal explains Padma’s success thus: “How does a beautiful woman refine her palate and develop recipes influenced by different cultures without formal training?” The model, who hosts the popular cookery show Top Chef on western television, says she is “extremely flattered” with the ranking.miranda-k4372873

A grateful Miranda said: “It is such a big compliment to be given. I would love to send a big thank you to everyone that voted on AskMen.com, I really do appreciate the support.” Poll topper Chriqui said she was thrilled. “It absolutely stunned me,” she said. “I laughed because I thought that is so crazy! It’s such a massive compliment. “Hearing what that vote is made of is the biggest compliment of all because it’s not just about being `hot’ but about being a well-rounded woman. That’s really empowering.  “That is just a massive compliment to me – people recognise that I care about other things.”  The list featured 26 blondes, 71 brunettes and one red head, with the average age of 29.

The top 10, in order, were:

1. Emmanuelle Chriqui

2. Marisa Miller

3. Kate Beckinsale

4. Alessandra Ambrosio

5. Jessica Alba

6. Beyonce

7. Penelope Cruz

8. Cheryl Cole

9. Eva Mendes

10. Miranda Kerr

Other Aussie beauties in the top 100 were lingerie model Emily Scott, super-supermodel Megan Gale, Miss Universe 2004 Jennifer Hawkins and singer/actress/model Sophie Monk. “It’s not just about being ‘hot’ but about being a well-rounded woman,” said the well-rounded Ms Chriqui. “That’s really empowering. That is just a massive compliment to me – people recognise that I care about other things.”
