Economics wise, having the world started a world war III of 911 in year 2001 and just managed to win it as well as Asian financial crisis aftermath in 1997; we have barely started to win a rat race of living. For we all know, other than main stream media as fourth estate and a few alternative media, namely malaysiakini, merdekareview, etc; we are, in principal, being controlled in what we call it a moderate Islamic tyranny until the recent outbreak about unjust treatment and racial favoritism in Malaysia and Singapore.
Idealistically speak, we yearn to be living in a democratic world in which upholding the values of freedom of choice in education, migration, marriage, language, and religion, freedom of speech, human right advocacy, multiracial tolerance, etc; the succeeding rate depends pivotally upon high-quality infrastructure and well-managed social institutions ranging from affordable healthcare and education, transportation system, separation of power in legislation, judiciary, executive branch, to military power; as well as human mind at the grass root level. On the flip side, Internet largely solves the dilemma of not having our voices heard as well as surpasses red tape, censorship and bureaucracy.
It is not with an aim to provoke or expedite any racial tension or social instability, however, the prime minister of Malaysia, who is holding a degree of Islamic Studies but sitting on the armchair in the finance office, is not showing us any good faith. During the flood, he is on his cloud nine mood to be opening a restaurant in Perth selling nasi kandar. According to news, he is remarrying a second wife in his first wife’s family clan whilst his son-in-law, who graduates from Oxford University in Philosophy, Politics and Economics, is practically a shareholder whom involved in some corruption scandals and has been alleged for his controversies in playing racial politics. Singapore as being a first world country in third world region, on the other side, recovers from its NKF scandal with a mere bat of eyelid.
As much as any concerned citizen would like to be longing for a better tomorrow with jobs creation, safety and security assurance, advanced public transport system, affordable education and healthcare, racial harmony; can we be optimistic or are we facing our doom inevitably?
