Well it’s the latest wrong news coming out of the troubled European state with Nicolas Sarkozy’s ex and present wives being in the news earlier for varied reasons. The Pekin Olympic torch on its way in the French capital, Paris had to be extinguished to prevent demonstrations taking an ugly turn on the streets by Tibetan protesters. The Chinese government will have more to look into than good Chinese Schewzan soup with the Pro Dalai Lama supporters already having breached the Chinese embassy wall in Indian Capital, New Delhi. A few hundred demonstrators can really turn World attention towards an issue which has been lying in the backburner for couple of decades now.

A couple of people who have been arrested were taking part in demonstrations critical of Chinese rule in the Himalayan land and the police had to twice extinguish the torch and put it on a bus for safety reasons. This follows the Sunday’s protests in London on a similar scale. The president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Jacques Rogge, has been concerned over unrest in Tibet and the torch protests. The Trocadero esplanade where the relay began at 1235 (1035 GMT) was the witness to the demonstrations. The French Green party was also involved with the police after attempting to grab the torch from the first of Paris’s 80 torch bearers, former world 400 metres hurdles champion Stephane Diagana.

On the second occasion, the flame was being relayed out of a Paris traffic tunnel by an athlete in a wheelchair when it was taken onto a bus because protesters booed and began chanting “Tibet”. The torch was lit in Olympia, Greece, on 24 March and will go through 20 countries before being carried into the opening ceremony at the Beijing Games on 8 August.

Whew China has a lot to handle because August is still some time away. I hope the games can take place without much difficulties to the athletes.
