It is such a pleasure to watch the shifting attitude of women in the world of advertisement. It is hard to say that advertisements reflects real day to day life or is it life that has adopted the values promoted in advertising world.What ever the case may be, but the current image of women in advertising is a reflection of realities, or it could be the effort made by the advertising community to portray a progressive picture of today’s women.Any ways that is not the main concern, as a matter of fact in the last 8 to 9 years women or girls are no longer relegated to stereotyped roles.
The impression (fact) of the traditional, conservative and helpless women is now transformed into educated, confident, independent and well dressed one. Look at the top Indian female models who have made a niche in the ad world like Aishwarya Rai, Mehr Jessia, Neha Dhupia, Ria Sen, Rhea Pillai, Sushmita Sen, Sushma Reddy, Malaika Arora etc.
A recent ad about an insurance company ,ICICI, wherein the wife is asking her husband to sign the forms and husband is somewhat reluctant to sign and gets emotional. The lady convinces him that it is very important for their future safety and security. So women do manage to break free occasionally!
Other ads that come into my mind is about fairness creams. Earlier the main desire was to simply settle down and get married in most girls. With the passage of time their aspirations and goals have also changed. Finally, the career and financial needs are more important than a handsome groom. Women are also choosing bigger products and they have a say in the family, even the costly products comes like buying a car, air conditioner, fridge and it could be something even like property, investments, mutual funds, shares and so on. She is not limited to products like pulses, spices, wheat or washing powder.
This evolution is nothing but an image of the real changes that are taking place in the society. So three cheers for all the women readers out there——————————-.

I like the reflective analysis of the advertising world.
I agree that it a pleasure to watch the shifting attitude of women in the world of advertisement. I see it as recognitions of the woman a her right to live as a equal person in her marriage and business relationship.
The traditional, conservative and helpless women is now transformed into educated, confident, independent and well dressed one, is reflective of the occurrences of the day.
Women are definitely using their intelligence and taking control of their lives by having a sayin choosing bigger products and they have a say in the family, even the costly products comes like buying a car, air conditioner, fridge and it could be something even like property, investments, mutual funds, shares and so on.
She does not limited her choices to products like pulses, spices, wheat or washing powder.
Women take pride in their femininity and also their other many talents.
