The new generation kids who are heard less and seen more, meet Whizkid part computer, part robot, this swiss machine is as endearing as any kid, but like most of the kids of this generation it does not talk, and it pays perfect attention. Whizkid is the result of a collaboration between former robotics engineer Frederic Kaplan and Martino d’Esposito, based in Switzerland. It’s not static and their is a screen on it’s mobile neck and it is trained to hone in on human faces. it concentrates after seeing you and follows your movements and blend into human space. It is quite revolutionary as it will change the way people interact with machines. Whizkid doesn’t force the human to accommodate, and it is fundamentally social and multi user.
There’s a kid waiting to meet you at The Museum of Modern Art in New York. Like any kid, it will amuse you, it will ask you lots of questions, and it might even bother you a little bit. But unlike most kids, it doesn’t walk or talk, and it pays perfect attention. Meet Wizkid: part computer, part robot, a Swiss kid who’s changing our concept of how people interact with machines.Interestingly, there is no mouse or key board and you can get a response from this half machine and half human by simply waving a hand. If you are with a friend it will track you with your friend and it will figure out your relation with your friend, it will show reactions like surprise, anger, confusion and happiness once it gets your response.Whizkid will be on display at the museum of modern art (MoMA) in New York and will be part of it’s design and the Elastic Mind exhibit, Which opens on February24.
