shiney10609Even as Shiney Ahuja is in police custody on charges that he allegedly raped his maid, his wife Anupam stands strongly by the actor’s side. On Wednesday evening, she called a press conference to show her support for her husband. She told the media that she has known Shiney for 15 years, and that he never drinks or even parties. “My man is innocent. He has been framed. I am proud of Shiney,” she repeated several times. Face hidden in a black veil, bare feet, with gunmen by his side, actor Shiney Ahuja emerged before the Andheri magistrate-court in suburban Mumbai on Sunday. It could’ve been a scene straight out one of his gangster thrillers. Except, this was for real. Ahuja, in a cream tee, jeans and a salt-n-pepper stubble, was sent off to police custody until June 18 on charges of raping and intimidating his maid. The girl’s age has been variously quoted between 18 and 20.

shiney106029The 36-year-old actor had been detained the night before by the local Oshiwara police. He had claimed having had consensual sex with his domestic help. The alleged rape is said to have taken place between 2 and 5 pm at Tarapore Gardens, a posh housing complex in Andheri, where Ahuja lives. His daughter Arshiya and wife Anupama Pandey were reportedly not home. Shiney Ahuja was born in New Delhi. His father was in the Indian army and mother hails from Kerala. His early schooling was at St. Xavier’s School, Ranchi, whereafter, he studied at The Army Public School, Dhaula Kuan, New Delhi. His initial plans were to join the armed forces. While studying at Hans Raj College University of Delhi from 1992-1996, he was attracted to Theater and joined the Barry Johns Acting School in Delhi. Sometime after 1996, he moved to Mumbai. Freelance journalist Flynn Remedios after extensive research and investigation, has pointed out a new conspiracy theory that suggests that Shiney Ahuja is not the villain, but a victim of blackmail himself. In his article, Flynn says that he spoke to several officials at the Oshiwara Police Station over two days, officers from the ‘Detection Section’ as well as some other domestic helps and maids who worked in the same residential complex where Shiney Ahuja lives. Flynn Remedios managed to track down a third, as yet unknown character in the “Rape Drama” – the so-called boyfriend of the alleged victim – Shiney Ahuja’s maidservant. The boyfriend or a ‘close friend’ of Shiney’s maid servant had a bad habit of gambling. He also did drugs and was himself a small time thief. According to his investigation, it seemed to be somewhat apparent from the people he spoke to that Shiney Ahuja was himself a victim of blackmail and has been framed. His maidservant’s boyfriend or close friend was heavily in debt and probably “used” the maid servant to extract money from Shiney Ahuja.

shiney1060292Shiney Ahuja in 2004 made his acting debut with the critically acclaimed ‘Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi’, then in 2005 he acted in a film called ‘Karam’. He then shot to popularity for his title role in Mahesh Bhatt’s ‘Gangster’ in 2006, following it up with ‘Woh Lamhe’ in 2006 and ‘Khoya Khoya Chand’ in 2008. Now this is what the celebs whom we worship with so much love do in their real lives.
