American Idol Season 8 auditions are coming up and you can’t win unless you audition!

Who Will Be The Next Superstar?

This is one big program which is a nation wide talent hunt competition and the auditions for the eighth season of AMERICAN IDOL are going to start from this Thursday, July 17, at the Cow Palace in San Francisco, CA. The audition will move on to select more Americans in seven other cities( that’s Louisville, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, San Juan, Kansas city, Jacksonville, E. Rutherford . Once again, auditioners will have to perform before millions of TV viewers and become household names, with one winning the coveted American Idol title and a major recording contract.

Eligibility

Men and women 16-28 years old as of July 15, 2008, who are eligible to work in the U.S. can apply — read the registration & Audition Rules as well as the FAQs on their website, which will answer most of your questions. After going over the rules etc you would need to also go over the Short Release and the guardianship & Medical Authorization for Minors form (if necessary), fill them out and bring them to the auditions!

The first audition takes place at the Cow Palace, 2600 Geneva Ave. ,Daly City, CA 94014 in San Francisco, CA, July 17th for the eighth season of AMERICAN IDOL and the Wristbands will be distributed from 7:00 AM on Tuesday, July 15 until 8:00 AM on Thursday, July 17. Auditioners will not be permitted to camp out; therefore, once they obtain their wristbands, they will be asked to return to the Cow Palace on Thursday, July 17.

Ineligibility rules

You are ineligible to participate if you progressed in any previous season of American Idol® to any of the
following levels:
• Season 1 – top 30 contestants
• Season 2 – top 32 contestants
• Season 3 – top 36 contestants
• Season 4 – top 44 contestants
• Season 5 – top 44 contestants
• Season 6 – top 40 contestants
• Season 7 – top 24 contestants

Past winners Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia Barrino, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Hicks and recently crowned Jordin Sparks have done well in their chosen spheres. AMERICAN IDOL has also entered the philanthropy arena with “Idol Gives Back,” which raised more than $75 million to fight extreme poverty in the U.S. and Africa. The special was honored with the prestigious Governors Award, the Television Academy’s highest accolade, at the 2007 Creative Arts Emmy® Awards. Emmy-nominated AMERICAN IDOL is created and executive-produced by Simon Fuller, founder of 19 Entertainment; and executive-produced by Cecile Frot-Coutaz, CEO, FremantleMedia North America, Inc.; Nigel Lythgoe, President, 19 Television; and Ken Warwick, Executive Producer, FremantleMedia North America, Inc.

The show has as sponsors Coca-Cola, Cingular wireless, food giant Nestle and ice-cream company Dreyer, whereas Ford remains the official automotive sponsor of the show, a position it has held since the show began in 2002. The winner and runner-up of the show get a Ford Mustang.
