This article is purely coming out of my true feelings and respect for all the elderly parents on this earth and I am dedicating this piece of writing to the parent hood which is so tender and innocent.
The speed of life, which is running faster day by day and driving man crazy for the lust of having more, leaving behind the social values some where away in the dusk. Indians following the foot steps of western sub continents is further triggering the social value issue. Old parents are no longer considered an emotional support but a liability for some.
Remember, your parents are growing older day by day and so will you be one day.Your mom and dad are not getting any younger and are physically less energetic at the same time emotionally dependent on you.
May be you have failed to notice this fact about them and brushed it aside, Insecurities, fears of death and loneliness has crept in their hearts. People whose company they sought all their lives may be are ill and dependent on them or may have passed away, leaving them broken, anxious, in secured and upset.
So don’t loose your patience if they repeatedly moan about their sorrows and talk little sad. Your talking might help them to live them longer and better. If you think talking might make it worse, subtly remind them how they make such a difference to you and their grand children. Also try to keep them engaged with the hobby of their liking and get your own child to introduce them to a new hobby.
Believe it nothing will give you more satisfaction than this and will induce a new life in them and as well in you. You will be free of all the guilt pangs and trust me nothing can be more refreshing and satisfying than looking after aging parents. After all they are our parents.
