1. Britney Spears — The pop star was not only the top-searched celebrity, she was the no. 1 overall search term for the fourth year in the row.
hannah-montana0202092. Miley Cyrus — A photo scandal, hit movie, and a rumored relationship with a 20-year-old underwear model propelled the 16-year-old to the no. 2 spot. Miley (born Destiny Hope Cyrus on November 23, 1992) is a Golden Globe and Critic’s Choice Award nominated American singer, actress, and author. Cyrus is better known for starring as Miley Stewart/Hannah Montana in the Disney Channel series Hannah Montana.
3. Jessica Alba — The actress’ popularity was bolstered by interest in her pregnancy and wedding. She began her television and movie appearances at age 13 in Camp Nowhere and The Secret World of Alex Mack (1994). Alba rose to prominence as the lead actress in the television series Dark Angel and later appeared in various films including Honey (2003), Sin City (2005), Fantastic Four (2005), Into the Blue (2005), Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer and Good Luck Chuck both in 2007. jessica_alba_030309She appears frequently on the “Hot 100″ section of Maxim and was voted AskMen.com’s number one on their list of “99 Most Desirable Women” in 2006, as well as “Sexiest Woman in the World” by FHM in 2007. The use of her image on the cover of the March 2006 Playboy sparked a lawsuit by her, which was later dropped.
4. Lindsay Lohan — The tabloid staple made headlines when she revealed her relationship with Samantha Ronson.
5. Angelina Jolie — Yahoo! users couldn’t get enough of the A-lister, who gave birth to Brad Pitt’s twins in July.
6. Paris Hilton — The top searched celebrity of 2004 has slipped a bit in search, but Yahoo! users were still fascinated by her personal and public life.
megan-fox0303097. Megan Fox — Despite having no major films in 2008, the big-screen bombshell drove searches — for obvious reasons. She is known for her roles on the television series Hope & Faith (2004) and in the 2007 live-action film Transformers. Her big break was when she acquired the lead female role of Mikaela Banes in the 2007 film Transformers, where she played the love interest of Shia LaBeouf’s character Sam Witwicky. In June 2007, Fox was cast in How to Lose Friends & Alienate People, starring alongside Jeff Bridges, Simon Pegg and Kirsten Dunst. She has signed on for two more Transformers sequels. As a model, Fox has been featured in the men’s magazines FHM, GQ and Maxim. FHM voted her the, “Sexiest Woman in the World,” in 2008
8. Lil Wayne — Searches on the best-selling rapper of the year and his music were anything but “lil.”
9. Jessica Simpson — The singer’s relationship with NFL star Tony Romo and her foray into country music brought new fan bases.
10. Mariah Carey — A surprise wedding (to Nick Cannon) helped secure the singer’s place in the top 10.
11. Vanessa Hudgens — The “High School Musical” star emerged from her 2007 nude photo scandal relatively unscathed — and more popular than ever.
12. The Jonas Brothers — Thanks to legions of young fans (and their moms), Kevin, Nick, and Joe Jonas burned up the search rankings in ’08.
13. Beyonce Knowles — A secret wedding to Jay-Z, weight gain for a new role, and a fierce alter ego named Sasha piqued Yahoo! users’ interest in the singer/actress.
14. Chris Brown — The R&B superstar had a big year, with a series of hit singles and a romance with Rihanna.
15. Hannah Montana — Thanks to the blockbuster hit “Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert,” searches on Miley Cyrus’ alter ego outranked those of “real” celebrities like Brad Pitt and George Clooney.
