To change for someone else don’t you see,
That in the end, disappointed you’ll be?
For to change for them is as if to say
That one assumes they’ll always stay.
And maybe they will, but maybe they won’t.
Great if they do. Damned if they don’t.
And if they choose to go away,
Will you be happy with what remains?
And even if they choose to stay,
Will you be happy with what remains?
Who is the person behind the mask?
Will you be ok or look to the past?
Will old habits creep back in?
Will you be back at the beginning all over again?
Are you willing to change for next that comes along?
Humming the tune of someone else’s song?
Please look at yourself foremost and first.
Do what you need to fill your own thirst.
And if the answer is to change,
Please do it for you within your range.
