Jab We Met – Shahid and Kareena Kapoor’s latest film is a romantic film that starts with a typical storyline where a girl meets a boy on her way back home from the city. Though the story is hackneyed, it is the presentation that makes the movie watchable. The script is lucid and catchy. The film is devoid of violence and sex which has now become a part and parcel of Bollywood films. The performances of both the lead characters were strong. Shaheed Kapoor, despite his chocolaty looks, has appeared very matured as the ‘jeevan se hara hua’ man and played his role well. Not going into their personal lives, but one has to grudgingly admit that their onscreen chemistry is remarkable. The songs were a mixture of good catchy and melodious tunes.‘Yeh Ishq Hai’ and ‘Mauja Mauja’ were really good songs while the others too were decent. The first half was really good, witty and humorous but the ending of the movie somehow lost the slickness and seemed a tide too-filmy. The film would perhaps have left a better impact on the audience had the director Imtiaz Ali not given it a stereotype ending. On the whole JWM is a movie worth watching.
Bhool Bhulaiya – Definitely not a run of the mill film but if one applauds Priyadarshan for such a new concept, he/she is mistaken. Copied from a South Indian movie, it has a good comical touch in it. Veteran comedian Paresh Rawal has left his mark as usual but Akshaye Kumar seemed too much of a clown in his anecdotes, which somehow for a reputed psychologist was too much to accept. Vidya Balan as the psychic patient was at times too hysterical; Indian actors for once should learn toned-down acting from Hollywood. Everything was fine till the conclusion wherein they show “tantra†doing the miracle to cure the psychological disorder of Vidya Balan. Are we still to believe in “tantra – mantraâ€â€¦â€¦â€¦â€¦â€¦one wonders!

The two movie reviews given above (JWM & BB) make interesting reading. Atleast they are different from the run-of-the-mill cliche-ridden reviews which appear on the various sites. Will be happy if you can make this a regular feature on your site, reviews of latest Hindi and English movies released in India. Will make the site more attractive I feel.
