The problem with so many reality TV shows today is BIG. Starting from the producers, advertisers, TV channels and the performers all are chasing such reality shows, Contestants themselves are running after such reality shows and all of them together contribute to the profit pudding from the shows. Every one from top to bottom seems to be interested and wants to hit the Jackpot and take out their personal benefit. For the young aspirers and the new talents this is an excellent platform not only to perform but also to earn a substantial amount. Some shows like chak de bacche, sa re ga ma, voice of India and Boogie woogie and many more can be seen on different TV channels.

The extreme pressure, which is constantly built on, the young contestants is quite pathetic to watch and is just too bad for their mental physical health. For these young contestants, taking part on this shows means putting constant tremendous physical and mental pressure to perform well. Yet another draw back is too much of mental and physical stress for the kids and make them grow faster then their original growth and they matures ahead of their age. Some children in the quest of glamour and a quick route to earn money can get misguided and land up no where, parents too can play a significant role in counselling their children. At this age they should be concentrating more on their studies and sports.

The worst thing is that there is no surety of making big in these glamorous fields and somewhere the little chaps are exploited. In case, if they are not able to meet their own expectation and full fill their parent’s dream it is very depressing for them and they get diverted from the studies. The national commission of protection of child rights should be taking matters into their hands and come out with some proper guide lines for the TV channels. The producer of such reality shows for children Gajendra Singh, is of the view that such shows bring out an over all personality in children and are extension of their hobby classes and such shows are a platform for children to enjoy and get exposure in life which they don’t experienced in day to day life. Producer Ravi Behl is very particular about keeping children away from any kind of pressure and special permissions are taken from schools before the shoots of the reality shows. One of the winners of the reality show Aishwariya Majumdar is of the opinion “Music reality shows are a good way to source talent and confidence “. What ever said and done on these reality shows ultimately it is very important to save guard the interest of child stars and participants should be protected and given more importance than the TRPs and Advertisement revenue which is earned from such shows.

I look at this at two levels.

One if it is the interest of the parent to make money on his child or if it is the child feeling the need to develop his talent.

I know a few people that were self-driven as children and enjoyed the opportunity.

Nowadays, almost maximum television channels have started their reality shows with no age bar for the children. These reality shows though creates pressure both physical and mental on the children but for the young aspirants and the new talents this is an excellent also wounderful platform for them to make themselves confident, punctual, adaptable and hardworking with earning a substantial amount during thier childhood.
