Whitney Houston is being sued by her stepmother in a legal battle over the wishes of her Houston’s deceased father.According to court records, Barbara Houston claims the 45-year-old singer improperly kept the proceeds from John Houston’s $1 million insurance policy after he died in 2003. The lawsuit says the singer was supposed to use $723,000 to pay off the mortgage on her father’s Fort Lee condominium. She holds the mortgage on the condo. She was married to Bobby Brown. She has a daughter named Bobbi Christina. Dionne Warrick is her aunt. Things I didn’t know about Whitney Houston: she had a dad who died in 2003 and a step-mother named Barbara Houston.

Barbara Houston, Whitney Houston’s step-mother is apparently suing Whitney, accusing Whitney of pocketing a million dollar life insurance payout from the death of her father John Houston. Apparently the money was supposed to go towards paying off the mortgage on John and Barbara’s New Jersey condo with the balance going into Barbara’s bank account for her daily use; but Whitney apparently pocketed every dime of it. Meanwhile, Chicago Sun-Times columnist Bill Zwecker is reporting that folks inside Houston’s circle of pals again insist the diva and ex-husband Bobby Brown may be getting back together:
The official word from Camp Houston sticks to to the old line about the divorced couple remaining separate, “but good friends whose primary interest is the well-being of their daughter.” Yet, several Georgia sightings of Houston and Brown in recent days — clearly looking very romantic while dining together — seem to boost the reliability of what I’m hearing.Reports have also surfaced that daughter Bobbi Kristina would like nothing more than for her parents to get back together.
Houston, whose personal and financial issues in recent years are well-documented, has reportedly been busy working on her seventh studio album, tentatively titled Undefeated. The long-gestating comeback was supposed to drop in November but has since been pushed back to 2009. Proof that she’s singing, though: The tune “Like I Never Left,” featuring Akon, was leaked online in July, and Arista honcho Clive Davis says that the album will also include collaborations with Will.i.am and Sean Garrett.

Money always caused friction in families. It is smarter to divide money and give it to the family members in a timely way, so that you can see them enjoy it
